Ruby Hurley, served on the committee that arranged Marian Anderson’s performance at the Lincoln Memorial after she was barred from singing at Constitution Hall, as youth secretary for NAACP increased youth membership to 25,000, investigated the murder of Emmitt Till despite personal danger.

🧗‍♀️ Wendy Ida: From Surviving Domestic Violence to Thriving in Fitness at 43

Today I want to bring you a motivating story of Wendy Ida.

At a point in her life when she didn't expect to live past the age of 43 due to surviving domestic violence, Ida found strength, resilience, and a new lease on life. What started as a coping mechanism soon became a transformative fitness career, leading her to lose over 80 pounds and leave her corporate accounting job behind.

At 57, she entered her first bodybuilding competition, and now, at 71, Wendy Ida is a bestselling author, life coach, and TV host. She holds two Guinness World Records in fitness and has won eight national bodybuilding and figure championships.

What sets Ida apart is her understanding of the challenges older women face in achieving fitness. She believes in jump-starting the brain and emphasizes that the first step is crucial. Movement, even without special equipment or attire, can change not just your body but your mindset, too.

Wendy Ida's story is one of the so many inspirational examples, showing us what we are capable of! Her journey from survivor to fitness icon serves as a reminder that it's never too late to embrace a healthier, more fulfilling life.

STUFFED MUSHROOMS

đź‘Ť Live Well Now Approved | Low Calorie

You Will Need:

Cooking spray, for pan

1 1/2 lb. baby mushrooms

2 tbsp. butter

2 cloves garlic, minced

1/4 c. breadcrumbs

Kosher salt

Freshly ground black pepper

1/4 c. freshly grated Parmesan, plus more for topping

4 oz. cream cheese, softened

2 tbsp. freshly chopped parsley, plus more for garnish

1 tbsp. freshly chopped thyme

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 400°. Grease a baking sheet with cooking spray. Remove stems from mushrooms and finely chop stems. Place mushroom caps on baking sheet.

2. In a medium skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Add chopped mushrooms stems and cook until most of the moisture is out, 5 minutes. Add garlic and cook until fragrant, 1 minute then add breadcrumbs and let toast slightly, 3 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

3. In a large bowl mix together mushroom stem mixture, Parmesan, cream cheese, parsley, and thyme. Season with salt and pepper. Fill mushroom caps with filling and sprinkle with more Parmesan.

4. Bake until mushrooms are soft and the tops are golden, 20 minutes.

5. Garnish with parsley to serve.
