🛟 Shannon Watts: Leading the Charge for Safer Communities

Shannon Watts stands out as a prominent figure in advocating for gun safety through her founding role in Moms Demand Action. For the past decade, she has been ardently dedicated to curbing gun violence across America, becoming one of the nation's most prominent voices on this critical issue.

At 52, Watts achieved a significant milestone by successfully advocating for the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, marking the first federal gun legislation signed into law in nearly three decades.

Formerly a communications executive for 15 years, Watts transitioned to being a stay-at-home mom when the tragic Sandy Hook shooting unfolded. Prompted by this devastating event, she swiftly launched the Moms Demand Action Facebook group, which has now burgeoned into a robust organization boasting over 250 employees and rallying a staggering 10 million volunteers nationwide. Watts' unwavering commitment has propelled her and her organization to the forefront of the fight against gun violence.

PARMESAN-CRUSTED SALMON

👍 Live Well Now Approved

You Will Need:

¼ cup panko breadcrumbs

½ teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon dried or fresh parsley

½ teaspoon sea salt

¼ teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper

⅓ cup freshly grated parmesan cheese

3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (or extra virgin olive oil)

1 (1-pound) salmon fillet

Lemon wedges, for serving

Directions:

1. Preheat the oven to 400°F with a rack in the center position. Line a rimmed sheet pan with parchment paper.

2. In a small mixing bowl, combine the panko, garlic powder, parsley, salt, pepper, and ¼ cup of the parmesan. Add 2 tablespoons of the butter and mix until fully combined using a fork or your hands.

3. Place the salmon, skin side down, on the prepared sheet. Pat dry with a paper towel. Brush the salmon with the remaining 1 tablespoon of the butter and sprinkle with the parmesan mixture, gently pressing to adhere to the salmon. Sprinkle with the remaining parmesan.

4. Bake until the panko is golden brown and the salmon easily flakes with a fork, 12 to 15 minutes.

5. Divide the salmon among 4 plates. Serve with the lemon wedges on the side.
