March 15, 1825: Harriet E. Wilson was born.

Harriet E. Wilson, one of the first female African-American novelists, her novel Our Nig, or Sketches from the Life of a Free Black, was published anonymously in 1859 in Boston. She was not widely known until it was discovered in 1982 by the scholar Henry Louis Gates, Jr.

Breaking New Ground: Shafi Goldwasser's Impact on Data Analytics

In 2016, at age 57, Shafi Goldwasser co-founded Duality Technologies, a pioneering data analytics startup. Using cryptography, her company empowers organizations to securely share and analyze encrypted data, revolutionizing the field of data science.

As Chief Scientist at Duality Technologies, Goldwasser leads the charge in developing innovative solutions for secure data management. Her expertise in cryptography has earned her numerous accolades, including the prestigious Turing Award in 2012, recognizing her exceptional contributions to the field.

Beyond her role at Duality, Goldwasser's influence extends to academia. In 2018, she assumed the directorship of Berkeley's Simons Institute for the Theory of Computing, further solidifying her status as a leader in the world of computer science.

With a passion for advancing technology, Goldwasser also serves as a scientific advisor to various tech startups, including QED-it, a company specializing in blockchain technology. Her dedication to pushing the boundaries of innovation inspires countless individuals in the tech industry and beyond.

BACON GUAC BOMBS

You Will Need:

12 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled

FOR GUACAMOLE:

2 avocados, pitted, peeled, and mashed

6 oz. cream cheese, softened

Juice of 1 lime

1 garlic clove, minced

1/4 red onion, minced

1 small jalapeno (seeded if you prefer less heat), chopped

2 tbsp. freshly chopped cilantro

1/2 tsp. cumin

1/2 tsp. chili powder

Kosher salt

Freshly ground black pepper

Directions:

1. In a large bowl, combine all guacamole ingredients. Stir until mostly smooth (some chunks are OK) and season with salt and pepper. Place in the refrigerator to firm up slightly, 30 minutes.

2. Place crumbled bacon on a large plate. Using a small cookie scoop, scoop guacamole mixture and place in bacon. Roll to coat in bacon. Repeat until all guacamole and bacon is used. Store in refrigerator.
