September 3, 1914: 

Dixy Lee Ray, a marine biologist and American Politician was born.

Dixy Lee Ray, a marine biologist whose scientific papers and research on marine invertebrates led to public television programs, was born today in 1914. She was appointed to the Atomic Energy Commission and elected as Governor of Washington in 1976.

EASY DETOX SMOOTHIE TO TRY

You Will Need:

1/2 cup water (or orange juice)

1 green apple

1/2 cup frozen pineapple chunks

1/2 frozen banana

1/2 inch fresh ginger , peeled and minced

1 cup fresh spinach

small handful fresh cilantro

1 tablespoon fresh lime juice

Directions:

1. Combine all of the ingredients in a blender, and blend until smooth. Pour into a glass and serve right away.

2. If you don't have have a high-speed blender, I recommend blending the spinach, cilantro, and ginger with the water first, to help break them down completely. Then add in the fruit and lime juice, and blend again.

3 Simple Changes To Make For Higher Energy

As we gracefully enter our 40s, it's common to notice changes in our energy levels. Busy lives, responsibilities, and the natural aging process can sometimes leave us feeling less energetic than we'd like. The good news is that there are simple steps you can take today to naturally boost your energy without any special equipment or products. Here are three easy tips to consider:

  1. Try out the Detox Smoothie or simply have a Cucumber or Lemon infused Glass of Water: Hydration and vitamins are crucial for boosting your energy. Taking a mindful moment to enjoy a glass of refreshing water or smoothie will make a ton of difference in your day today.

  2. This is your permission to take 10-30 minutes today for yourself and do something your enjoy: We all know the importance of self care and yet we constantly let life take over our day. Take few minutes today just for yourself!

  3. Tell your family member or a friend how much you appreciate them: We all know it is important to feel acknowledged by people in our life. But taking the time to tell them that we appreciate and love them is just as important. Nothing boosts energy as sharing kind words with someone you love.
