September 13, 1948: Margaret Chase Smith was elected to Senate

Sen. Margaret Chase Smith, R-Maine, was elected to the Senate on this day in history, Sept. 13, 1948, becoming the first woman to serve in both houses of Congress.

A Remarkable Journey of Strength and Resilience | Deepa Malik

Deepa Malik, a Paralympic medalist, defied adversity at the age of 45.

Diagnosed with a spinal tumor in 1999, she faced three surgeries and paralysis waist down. Her indomitable spirit led her to sports, where she became unstoppable, winning 58 national and 18 international medals.

She's the first Indian woman to earn a Paralympic medal at the age of 45. She was previously honored with the Arjuna award in 2012, at the age of 42.

Deepa's incredible journey includes 3 surgeries, 183 stitches, and multiple roles as a swimmer, disability activist, entrepreneur, and biker.

Her journey is a beacon of hope for all, proving that with the right mindset, unwavering determination, and the courage to say "yes" to life, there are no limits to what can be achieved, no matter the age and circumstances. I hope this story brightens your day and motivates you!

DRAGON FRUIT SMOOTHIE TO TRY

đź‘Ť Live Well Now Approved | Dairy Free | Vegan

You Will Need:

2 cup water

2 cup orange juice (freshly squeezed, if possible)

4 banana , frozen (peel before freezing!)

4 100g packet of frozen dragon fruit (about 1/2 cup frozen puree)

2 cup frozen wild blueberries

1/2-inch piece of fresh ginger (or to taste)

4 large handful fresh baby spinach (optional; this will affect color)

Directions:

In a high-speed blender, add the water, OJ, banana, dragon fruit, blueberries, ginger, and spinach, if using. Blend until very smooth, then serve right away.
