Gladys Burrill: Oldest Female Marathoner

Gladys Burrill's life is a testament to the incredible power of positivity and determination. At the remarkable age of 86, she ran her first marathon in 2004, setting the stage for an extraordinary journey.

Out of seven marathon attempts, Gladys completed five, with her last race in 2010 earning her a Guinness World Record as the oldest woman to finish a marathon.

Before her marathons, Gladys had lived a life filled with adventure, including being a pilot, mountain climber, desert hiker, and horseback rider.

Her secret to success? A resolutely positive attitude. She firmly believed that maintaining a positive mindset made all the difference in how one feels and views the world.

Even in her later years, Gladys continued to walk dozens of miles each week, showing that age couldn't diminish her spirit.

Sadly, Gladys Burrill passed away at the age of 100. Her story remains an inspiration, proving that with a positive outlook, one can conquer any challenge and leave an enduring legacy.
