On This Day In Women’s History:

April 23, 1928: Shirley Temple Black was born.

Shirley Temple Black, a cheerful and curly-haired child actor, singer, and dancer whose career as a movie star spanned the Depression and World War II eras (1932-50), was appointed U.S. Ambassador to Ghana (1974) and Czechoslovakia (1988).

Monica Jain: Driving Positive Change in Ocean Conservation

At the age of 50, Monica Jain combined her love for the ocean with her financial acumen to co-found Fish 2.0 Ventures. Dedicated to nurturing businesses that enhance the health of our oceans and marine life, Fish 2.0 has become a beacon of sustainability in the seafood industry.

Since its inception, Fish 2.0 has linked over 600 entrepreneurs with a network of 500 private investors, resulting in investments exceeding $400 million. Monica, who also spearheads Manta Consulting, personally guides and empowers Fish 2.0 ventures, aiding them in their journey to growth and impact.

In recognition of her transformative contributions, Monica was honoured as a White House Champion of Change for Sustainable Seafood in 2016. Ms. Jain's tireless efforts toward protecting our seas and nurturing a thriving blue economy deserve our utmost admiration. Her unwavering dedication is a shining example for all of us to follow.

WAKE-UP SMOOTHIE

You Will Need:

1 ¼ cups orange juice, preferably calcium-fortified

1 banana

1 ¼ cups frozen berries, such as raspberries, blackberries, blueberries and/or strawberries

1/2 cup low-fat silken tofu, or low-fat plain yogurt

1 tablespoon sugar, or Splenda Granular (optional)

Directions:

Combine orange juice, banana, berries, tofu (or yogurt) and sugar (or Splenda), if using, in a blender; cover and blend until creamy. Serve immediately.
