🎮 Meet Doris Self: Breaking Stereotypes In Her Seventies

Doris Self didn't care about being an "old lady" in the world of competitive gaming. At 80, she was the world's oldest competitive video gamer, renowned for her skill in Q*Bert.

Doris stumbled into the arcade world by chance, and late-night sessions at a Florida arcade became her routine.

In 1984, at 58, she set a world record for Q*Bert, challenging stereotypes about gaming age. Her secret? Playing by instinct, not memorizing patterns.

Although she held her title for only two years, Doris returned to the scene in her late seventies and reclaimed her title of the oldest competitor.

Doris continued playing Q*Bert until her passing in 2006 at 81, leaving behind a legacy as the Guinness World Record holder for the oldest competitive gamer. Her story reminds us that passion knows no age limits.
