Sarita Mohanty: Leading the Charge for Elderly Care at The SCAN Foundation

In 2021, Sarita Mohanty assumed the role of CEO and president at The SCAN Foundation, marking a pivotal moment in her career dedicated to healthcare. At 50, she became the second person to helm this California-based nonprofit, renowned for its commitment to enhancing the well-being of older adults through policy initiatives, impactful investments, and strategic grantmaking.

Before her leadership role at The SCAN Foundation, Mohanty demonstrated her expertise at Kaiser Permanente, where she served as vice president of care coordination for Medicaid and vulnerable populations. Notably, she spearheaded the development of Thrive Local. This groundbreaking referral network seamlessly connects health systems, government agencies, and community groups to offer essential social services such as housing, food, and utilities.

Mohanty's academic journey includes earning her medical degree from Boston University, completing her Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center residency, and achieving an M.P.H. from Harvard University. Furthermore, she holds an M.B.A. from UCLA, combining her medical and managerial acumen to lead The SCAN Foundation's mission toward transformative change in elderly care. Her journey serves as a compelling narrative, encouraging others to strive for excellence and pursue meaningful contributions to the well-being of aging populations.

BEST BAKED POTATO RECIPE

đź‘Ť Live Well Now Approved | Low Calorie

You Will Need:

4 large russet potatoes

1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil

4 tablespoons salted butter

sea salt, to taste

freshly cracked black pepper, to taste

Directions:

1. Preheat the oven to 400°F. Wash potatoes with a stiff brush, removing any excess dirt and pat dry. Using a fork poke each potato 8-12 times going 1-inch deep all over the potato. Brush potatoes lightly with oil.

2. Bake the potatoes directly on a rack, in the middle of the oven. We recommend setting a baking sheet on the lower rack of the oven to catch any liquid that might drip out of the potatoes.

3. Bake until the potatoes are tender all the way through, about 1 hour. Remove from the oven and allow them to cool for 5 minutes.Serve by cutting a line end to end and then squeezing one end towards the other. Top with butter, salt and pepper.

Note: The more potatoes you use the more cook time you’ll need. If using more than 4 potatoes, you may need to increase the cook time by 10 minutes.
