Laura La Plante was an American film actress whose more notable performances were in the silent era.

🖋️ Janet Evanovich: From Rejection to Literary Success

After enduring a decade of rejections, Janet Evanovich published her first novel at the age of 44.

Fast forward to 2012, and she ranked No. 79 on Forbes' list of The World's Most Powerful Celebrities. Evanovich, an American author, has written over 45 books, with sales exceeding 75 million copies.

Evanovich's claim to fame rests on her series of comedic mystery novels, featuring the gutsy bounty hunter Stephanie Plum. The series, known for its titles like "One For The Money," "Two For The Dough," and "Three To Get Deadly," has been a consistent hit. The New York Times described it as "the mystery-novel equivalent of comfort food," though not necessarily meant as a compliment. But it was this late bloomer's backstory that piqued my interest.

Janet Evanovich started her writing career at an age when many people are contemplating retirement. She published her first novel at 44 and embarked on the Stephanie Plum series at 51. Her journey into the world of writing followed years of rejections and various jobs.

For a decade, Evanovich submitted manuscripts and faced countless rejections, which mirrored the challenges she and her family were enduring. Then, the moment she had been waiting for arrived: a publisher accepted one of her manuscripts, offering her $2000, a significant sum in the 1980s.

With the success of her work and a supportive family, Janet Evanovich built an empire. She remains dedicated to her craft, working eight hours a day, seven days a week, and producing two to three books each year.

AIR FRYER EVERYTHING BAGEL AVOCADO FRIES

You Will Need:

1/4 c. all-purpose flour

2 large eggs

3/4 c. panko breadcrumbs

3 tbsp. everything bagel seasoning

2 tbsp. black and/or white sesame seeds

2 large, just ripe avocados, halved, pitted, peeled, and sliced ½" thick

Olive oil cooking spray

2 oz. cream cheese

1 tbsp. (or more) water

lime wedges, for serving

Directions:

1. Pour flour into a shallow bowl. In another shallow bowl, beat eggs to blend. In a third shallow bowl, mix panko, everything bagel seasoning, and sesame seeds. Dip avocado strips into flour, shaking off any excess. Dip into eggs, then into panko mixture, gently pressing to adhere. Transfer to a plate.

2.Lightly coat an air-fryer basket with cooking spray. Working in batches, arrange avocado in a single layer in basket, spacing about 1/4" apart; spray with cooking spray. Cook at 350°, flipping halfway through and spraying with cooking spray, until golden and crisp, 6 to 8 minutes. Clean out any breading in basket between batches.

3. In a small heatproof bowl, microwave cream cheese on high until melted and smooth, about 30 seconds. Stir in water, adding more if necessary to create a drizzleable consistency.

4. Drizzle avocado fries with melted cream cheese. Serve with lime wedges alongside.
