On This Day In Women’s History:

March 21, 1939: Martha Hudson was born.

Martha Hudson, is a retired American sprinter. She won a gold medal in the 4 Ă— 100 m relay at the 1960 Olympics but failed to reach the final of the individual 100 m event. In 1959 she held the AAU indoor 100 yd title. In 1986 she was inducted into the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame.

From Exile to Excellence: The Artistic Odyssey of Shirin Neshat

Shirin Neshat is an acclaimed multi-disciplinary artist hailing from Iran, renowned for her work spanning photography, video, film, and opera. Having spent nearly five decades in exile in the U.S., Neshat's artistic vision is deeply influenced by her experiences and cultural heritage.

At the age of 52, Neshat garnered widespread acclaim, receiving the Silver Lion for Best Director at the Venice Film Festival for her film "Women Without Men." This marked the beginning of a remarkable career in cinema, with Neshat going on to direct her second feature film shortly after.

In a bold move at 60, Neshat ventured into the world of opera, directing Giuseppe Verdi's timeless classic, Aida. Premiering at the prestigious Salzburg Music Festival in 2017, Neshat's interpretation of the opera received accolades for its innovative approach. Now, at 67, she continues to refine her vision, preparing to direct a revised version of Aida at the esteemed Paris Opera House in 2025.

Neshat has received numerous prestigious awards throughout her illustrious career, including the Golden Lion at the Venice Biennial and the Crystal Award from the Davos World Economic Forum. Her work has been celebrated in solo exhibitions at renowned galleries and museums worldwide, solidifying her status as a leading figure in contemporary art.

In recent years, major retrospectives have further highlighted Neshat's impact, including exhibitions at The Broad in Los Angeles and the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. As she continues to push the boundaries of artistic expression, Shirin Neshat continues to push boundaries in the world of visual arts, captivating audiences with her thought-provoking creations.

GRILLED HALLOUMI SALAD RECIPE

đź‘Ť Live Well Now Approved | Vegetarian

You Will Need:

8 oz halloumi, 1/2 inch sliced

1 large avocado, 1/2 inch sliced

olive oil

3 tbsp butter

1 cup panko bread crumbs

5 oz Arugula

1 pint cherry tomatoes, halved

1/2 cup Pickled onions

Creamy Basil Dressing

1/3 cup Mayonnaise

1/4 cup Sour cream

1/2 tsp Dried parsley (or 2 tsp fresh)

1/2 tsp Onion powder

1/2 tsp Garlic powder

1/2 tsp Dried dill

1/4 tsp Salt

1/4 cup fresh basil, packed (2/3 oz)

1 tbsp milk, if needed

Directions:

1. Preheat a grill pan or outdoor grill to medium heat.

2. Brush the halloumi and avocado slices with olive oil. Place the avocado and halloumi on the grill until char marks appear, about 2 to 3 minutes each side.

3. Meanwhile make the dressing by combining all the ingredients in a small food processor and blending until smooth. Add milk only if needed for consistency.

4. In a medium skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the panko to the butter and cook, tossing often until browned, about 4-5 minutes.

5. Place the arugula on a large platter. Add the tomatoes and onions. Sprinkle with the panko. Layer on the avocado and halloumi then drizzle with dressing.
