On This Day In Women’s History:

December 28, 1894: Burnita Matthews was born.

Burnita Matthews, a suffragist, as a young law student in the District of Columbia, learned that she could carry a banner outside the White House but would be arrested for not having a permit if she spoke, stayed silent and avoided arrest, gained admission to the bar in 1920, worked for the National Woman’s Party, chosen as Federal District Court Judge by President Truman in 1949.

Dr. Ruth Westheimer, a renowned advocate for safe and fulfilling sexual health, gained widespread recognition for her candid and practical advice through her iconic radio show "Sexually Speaking" in her mid-50s. Since then, her commitment to public education has extended across various platforms, encompassing television, magazine, and newspaper columns, literary works, teaching college courses, and offering counsel on her website. Alongside these endeavors, she maintains an active private practice in sex therapy.

Dr. Westheimer's impactful contributions have earned her numerous accolades, notably the Honorary President designation of the Council on Sexuality and Aging. Her unwavering dedication to open discourse about sexual health has transcended age barriers, solidifying her status as a pioneering figure in the field.

CHOPPED COBB SALAD WITH CHICKEN TO TRY

You Will Need:

2 cups chopped romaine lettuce

2 tablespoons bottled blue cheese dressing, such as Bolthouse Farms Chunky Blue Cheese, divided

¼ cup chopped tomato

¼ cup chopped cucumber

¼ cup sliced white button mushrooms

3 ounces grilled or roasted chicken breast, cut into cubes or strips

½ hard-boiled egg, chopped

¼ cup no-salt-added cannellini beans, drained and rinsed

Directions:

Place lettuce in a medium bowl. Add Toss 1 Tbsp. dressing; toss to coat. Arrange tomato, cucumber, mushrooms, chicken, egg, and beans in rows atop the lettuce. Drizzle with the remaining 1 Tbsp. dressing.
